Blocked Manhole

blocked manhole

Causes of Blocked Manhole
There are many factors that contribute to a blocked manhole and here are the most common of them. The most common material that causes a blockage are a build up of toilet paper, lime scale starts to form by reducing the diameter of the pipe work and eventually building up to the point fluid and solid mass cant flow through.
Other factors can contribute to causing a blocked manhole and these can be in different form. Some examples are, poorly fitted pipe work or the wrong type or diameter of pipe work. Also tree roots can cause major issues eventually causing cracking or breakages in the pipe work. Other factors causing blockages can flush-able wipes, flush-able wipes don’t break up like standard tissue causing ball like matters of wipes and sewage to form.

HOW TO CLEAN DRAINS OUTSIDE?

Some people advise putting drain un blocker, a vinegar and baking soda combination, bleach, dish washing soap or a range of other chemicals down the manhole to try to clear the blockage. Here at Thames Valley Drains we don’t recommend using any harmful substances and will never use these our self.
